Nadeeka Karunasekara is a Sri Lankan Australian student composer based in Brisbane, Australia. Her interests are mostly in writing for chamber and orchestral ensembles, with a particular focus on strings as a violin and piano player herself. She has a passion for film and video game music and is inspired by composers like Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone and Joe Hisaishi. Currently, she is engaged in a student short film projects and has also participated in scoring competitions, becoming a semi-finalist in the 2026 Winter Indie Film Music Competition. Due to her cultural heritage, she has also engaged with Sinhalese traditional, folk and modern styles of music. From 2021 - 2024 she had helped direct, arrange and perform music with the Swara music ensemble based in Canberra. Beyond this, she has also performed violin and arranged for the Kavaakaara Nangooram folk drama production.
